Azaan Sami Khan
He came, he saw, he conquered the music scene and is now all set to make it big on the silver screen with “Patakh Dey”
If 2019 was a big year for Azaan with Superstar and Parey Hut Love, then 2020 will be even massive as now all eyes are on his much-awaited movie debut with Hania Aamir.

It’s no surprise that Khan is being tipped for greater things ahead, given that he is incredibly young and has already proved his mettle through composing soundtracks for some of the most popular Pakistani movies. Not to forget, he also penned the screenplay of Superstar that turned out to be a massive hit!
Now the silver screen glory as a leading hero awaits him and we simply cannot wait for the grand moment!
Speaking to Hum Spotlight in an earlier interview, he revealed:
Azaan: I haven’t sung and acted as yet; I plan to do both in the coming days. With Patakh De, it will be my debut as an actor opposite HaniaAamir, and alongside Ahsan Khan and ShamoonAbbasi. I have always wanted to act but before that, I wanted to know the basics of showbiz and that’s why my parents rightly advised me to get a grip on how things are done before taking the giant leap.
Hira Tareen
She is hot, sassy and full of fire- presenting you the Digital Host of Hum Style Awards 2019- ‘Hira Tareen’.
The sensation is on a roll ever since her role as the antagonist Salma in Khaas made ripples on television. The drama became one of the year’s most prominent conversation starters, with her character right in the middle of all of it.

And now, 2020 began with an eventful start for her as she will be hosting Hum Style Awards on digital, happening this weekend.
However, we are curious about what is coming up next for the accomplished actress. She is already ruling over YouTube with her Lifestyle Vlog but we want to see her more in dramas and who knows, even on the big screen!

Hajra Yamin
Already a critical darling, Hajra has worked hard in the previous years to make a name for herself in the entertainment world.
Currently reaping all the love as Ramsha in Ehd e Wafa, there is so much more of her character that is yet to be revealed in the upcoming episodes.
What’s more, her unconventional pair with Wahaj Ali has taken social media by storm and the New Year has marked them as one of the hottest couples of the drama season.
But the best is yet to come for Hajra! The actress is all set to star in yet another Hum TV project coming soon and we are on the lookout for more details.
We would not be surprised to see the beauty signing more movies after Pinky Memsaab as her bubbly face and acting chops are just perfect for her to shine on the silver screen.
Sabeena Farooq
If you enjoyed her character as the wacky Maina in Suno Chanda 2, good news- you will be seeing her soon in the upcoming Hum TV drama ‘Kashf’.
Sabeena also played a leading role in Hum TV’s Log Kia Kahengay but she remains remembered and cherished as Maina.
So much so, the actress revealed that this role turned out to be a game-changer for her and gave her fame like never before.
Sabeena: It was obvious after Maina I felt fame and popularity amongst people. The journey has been awesome since then. People now call me Maina and they don’t even know my name. In fact, my friends who have been calling me by my name my whole life now call me Maina. In my workspace, people call me Maina.
As far as I believe, this is a sign of the success of an artist that he or she starts getting recognized. People even started comparing me with the characters of the good old PTV times- the golden era- that I performed such a character that will be remembered for a long time. Career-wise, I got a lot of work due to Maina and people told me that my acting skills while playing Maina has proved me to be a tremendous actor.
Soon to be seen in Kashf, we asked Sabeenaabout her role in the drama!
Sabeena: Kashf is one of my dream projects and hopes it does well. My character of Kashf is of a girl who just lives on her own terms. She doesn’t want to listen to anyone, not even herself at times
More projects are coming soon. I have done another project for another channel. And it is yet another challenging character. But I loved playing it and I am looking forward to it.
Whatever Sabeena will do next, she’s sure to be a standout star.
Adnan Samad Khan
Ehd-e-Wafa might be a story of four friends, Saad, Shahzain, Shahryar, and Shariq but the drama would have been incomplete without the hilarious antics of the goofball Gulzar.
Credit goes to the actor Adnan Samad Khan who has aced the character like a boss and has become the life of the drama.
Despite at an early stage in his career, Khan is reaping acclaim from critics and has developed a loyal fan base. Social media cannot help showering praise over the debutant and even Imran Ashraf took to Twitter to laud the rising star!

However, in a candid chat, Adnan Samad divulged to us that he surely didn’t see so much love coming his way as Gulzar!
Adnan Samad Khan: My journey as Gulzar has been fantastic. However, I had not anticipated achieving this much appreciated and I want to thank every single fan of mine for their love!
For those who are unaware, the talented performer always aspired to be an actor and now is eager to prove his acting prowess by playing more versatile roles!
Adnan Samad Khan: I want to play all types of characters. I don’t want myself labeled for a specific genre in my career!
This is just the beginning of the breakout actor. Hopefully, we will be seeing more of Adnan Samad Khan in 2020 and he will be enthralling us with more powerful performances in the future.
Meiraj Haq
Pakistani YouTubers are no less than celebrities in their realm. And soon one of our local Vloggers ‘MeirajHaq’ is all set to grace the small screen in the upcoming Hum TV drama ‘Sabaat’.
Directed by Shehzad Kashmiri, Sabaat will star Usman Mukhtar and Sarah Khan in leading roles. Meiraj will be seen in a supporting role in the drama.
We had a tête-à-tête with Meiraj Haq and asked him more about his role in the drama. Here’s what he revealed to us:
Meiraj Haq: The name of my character is Dr. Murad in Sabaat. He is a psychiatrist and is best friends with Dr. Haris, which is being played by Usman Mukhtar.
The chemistry between the two characters is something a lot of friends will be able to relate to.
It is no less than an achievement for the rising YouTuber to bag a role in a drama so promising, that too across hotly-tipped stars like Usman and Sarah.
So what’s next for Meiraj? Will he continue acting or seek a career as a YouTuber? We couldn’t help asking him. Much to our surprise, he already has more projects coming soon.
Meiraj Haq: There are some more projects in the pipeline and hopefully, you will see me more on the small and the big screen. I plan on making a career out of this!
As far as YouTube is concerned, that is something I will never quit. Everything will become digital in the next 2-3 years and having a platform like YouTube couldn’t be any better because it gives you complete freedom as a filmmaker and content creator.

Ehd-e-Wafa Portrays Strong Male and Female Characters: Mustafa Afridi
ISPR and MD Productions’ Ehd-e-Wafa is breaking barriers when it comes to storyline and performances.
The drama is not just the one on-air project where there is no saas-bahu issue but also the one that shows that Pakistan is full of strong people, be it men or women. When the play started, people argued that it will revolve around the main lead comprising Ahad Raza Mir, Wahaj Ali, Ahmed Ali Akbar, and Osman Khalid Butt but the writer and director had other ideas in their minds.
As the drama progressed, they introduced strong women in the story, showing to the world that women in our society are at par if not more important than men.
Spotlight decided to talk to the writer and three of the superwomen introduced during the play, and asked them how it felt to be part of a path-breaking drama, that gave importance to both male and female characters. Read on:
Mustafa Afridi (Writer)
When Ehd-e-Wafa began, the viewers thought that it was going to be an all-boys drama but we have seen many strong female characters in the drama as well. Was that something you had in mind or did it happen by chance?
When I started writing Ehd-e-Wafa, I was clear in my mind that it was going to be about youngsters; by youngsters, I mean both males and females. I wanted to show that Pakistan has a bright future where both strong male and female characters are important, and that’s one of the main reasons why we didn’t discriminate between the two. Both are integral for the future of Pakistan and through the drama, we sent across the important message that both men and women are both important to our society.
In fact, at times women have shown that they are stronger than men, both physically and mentally which is what we are highlighting as well. The female characters on our TV are usually either shown crying or are there as eye candies but in our drama, we have shown them in a true light, helping men achieve their goals and moving ahead with them. You may have noticed that every female character in the drama brings a change in their male counterparts’ life, for the better. How can we ignore strong females in our dramas when more than 50 percent of Pakistan comprises of women!
As a male writer, how difficult it was to write strong female characters?
It wasn’t difficult at all because there are so many examples around us that inspired me during the writing process. There are women who run schools, who are doctors, who help doctors as nurses, who are running multinational companies in Pakistan etc. And even those who are not as privileged, they ensure that their siblings get quality education by working extra hard and for their better future.
Some of them are so strong that not even men can stand beside them; just look at the Nurses in our hospitals, they not only attend the patients but when they die, they ensure that they get ready for the burial. Life and death are part of their daily routine and don’t scare them when in fact many men would lose it if they saw so much death on a regular basis.
A weeping woman might give you ratings but Ehd-e-Wafa proves that a strong woman can make the audience take note and be inspired. All a writer and production team needs is to understand that it is not difficult at all; if done correctly, a little effort can go a long way.
Alizeh Shah (Dua, Doctor)
Alizeh Shah not only plays the love interest of Ahad Raza Mir’s character but also delivers a strong performance as an adopted daughter who takes care of her mother after the sudden demise of her father.
Your character is the most important female character in the drama; did you know it will become as famous as it has now?
Thank you for considering it the most important female character although I never felt that. For me, all the female characters are equally important and well balanced, both written and portrayed. I am truly humbled and happy for the immense amount of love, recognition, and appreciation I have received from the audience.
Which has been your favorite scene in the play, considering there have been many important ones that included you?
This may sound bizarre and unreal but I actually loved playing all the scenes equally because each and every scene was written beautifully. If I have to choose one, then it has to be the scene where Dua’s father passes away because it was the scene where my bubbly character changes into a mature, wiser and more serious character.
Naeema Butt (Shariq’s sister Ghazala, Nurse)
Naeema Butt plays the sister of one of the boys played by Wahaj Ali and is shown to be a nurse who looks after her aged mother as well as her younger brother. In two episodes, she outshines the rest of the performers as she displays anger and love at the same time, without going out of character.
On TV, young and good looking actresses don’t usually opt for sisterly roles because of their scope. Why did you say yes to the role of Shariq’s sister when it was offered to you?
Well, I come from a theater background. I focus on the roles that have some potential to explore and project my acting skills. I found the role of Ghazala in Ehd-e-Wafa to be the one. Also, when I had a chat with Saife Hassan (director) I liked the fact that he comes from theater background and understands theater actors well. After meeting him I was encouraged to opt for this character. I knew that I might be typecast for older roles than my age, but I just followed my heart and said yes!
Did you know that for 2 episodes, you will outshine the boys in the drama with your powerful acting?
My acting training is in Method acting technique that pushes me to be sincere and emotionally expressive in my performance. I did not think about anything else while performing apart from being committed to my role. It’s quite a nice surprise though. I’m currently in the US doing theater and enjoying the great response from the audience and bombarded with hundreds of messages from people all around the world including India (smiles).
Hajra Yamin (Ramsha, News Producer)
Hajra Yamin also comes from theatre background and plays a news producer who teams up with Shariq (Wahaj Ali) and keeps him in check despite his tendency to go overboard.
Did you know that your character in Ehd e Wafa will become huge with the passage of time?
Honestly, I didn’t know it would, and it became huge very unexpectedly. I was initially hired for a few days because of it being an all-boys drama, but then it just took off and I couldn’t be happier.
For a change, Ehd e Wafa includes strong women despite starting off as an all-boys drama. How does it feel to be part of such a play?
One thing that I really like about the storyline is that it’s flexible and the character’s weaknesses and strengths are kept well balanced, be it the boys or the girls. It feels great, as it has a very diverse audience. Because of its reach, it looks like one of those plays which will be remembered.
