The latest ‘Tonite with HSY’ episode featured the singing sensation Momina Mustehsan and Asim Azhar this week and what an amazing episode it was.
From talking about music, social media and depression, the glamourous duo surely had a lot to say about everything and anything.
While we love both of them equally but this episode gives us a lot about the Afreen girl.
While the beautiful singer talked about it being a BIG year for her professionally and struggles being a public figure, we’re diving straight into the stuff that really mattered on the show:
1. Things just happen to Momina
Well believe it or not but the super-talented girl never wanted to be a singer at first place. Music was just a hobby for her but she ended up becoming a huge star in the world of music.
“I never wanted to make music my profession because there’s no privacy, your life is not yours anymore and you need to prove yourself every time.”
Momina added that there’s not nothing bad in being a musician but there’s much more in her which she wanted to explore.
2. Momina sheds light on Depression: Try to make your tomorrow better
On being asked about her battle against depression, the coke studio sensation recalls a fortune cookie that help her to get over it and that says “It only gets better if you get better.”
Momina explains how depression feels like and one should not allow it to take over.
Earlier, she shared her depression struggle on social media and get a positive response from all over the world and again she came up strong on the subject.
“I always felt that there’s nothing good about me, neither I am pretty nor I possess any great academic but then I decided that it’s my life and I will never get a chance to live it again.” Momina remembers her struggle against depression.
3. She also clarifies her stance about Qandeel Baloch
Talking about Qandeel Baloch, Momina said that “I never flip-flopped on the issue, I never said that she was wrong, a lot of people don’t understand what epitome is.”
Momina clarifies that she never questioned her. However, never thought of her as ‘epitome of empowerment’ because self-objectification is not empowerment.
In addition to it, she shares that she was really upset about what happened to her (Qandeel) as no one deserves that.
Do all Pakistani women need to die to live the lives we want? Afreen famed singer questioned while explaining that nobody stood for QB when she was alive.
4. Is cyber bullying something that should be taken seriously?
Being a public figure makes you vulnerable but Momina feels that there’s no point to think so much about other people’s comment as its not important at all.
She went on to state: “Reading mean comments actually made me feel bad but then I ask myself if anything is changed after those comments and I get the answer to my depressive thoughts.
We absolutely loved the episode, Do you?
