Not to forget, Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly became a steaming reel and real-life pair with Yaqeen Ka Safar.
This year, our favorite dramas introduced us to many exceptional couplings who gave us some of the sweetest love stories that we will cherish for a long, long time.
These popular pairs have been unconventional and were never seen before together! However, once united, they had sparks flying and made their fans passionately cheer for them.

We have compiled a list of our favorite, unusual on-screen couples that surprised us with their performances and left an everlasting mark on us. Their chemistry had been so undeniably electric that we almost couldn’t handle it!
Zahid Ahmed and Sonya Hussayn
There is no denying that Ishq Zahe Naseeb is amongst the trending dramas of the season. And one of the factors that have made it a fan favorite is the peculiar pairing of Sonya Hussayn and Zahid Ahmed.
Even their characters make for an equally odd pair, given that Sonya as Gauhar is from a humble background and has her heart for someone else while Zahid, with all his riches, has a dark past and suffers from a split personality disorder.
However, these two stars have pulled off their roles with ease and are making a splash on-screen!
Ahad Raza Mir and Alizeh Shah
Sahad fans will hate us for saying this but Ahad Raza Mir and Alizeh’s couple has become the new cool after Ehd-e-Wafa!
Well, this indeed is an ‘atypical’ pairing! While both the stars began their career almost in the same year, Ahad was quick to grab the limelight and climbed the ladder to success in no time. With successful projects in his portfolio, leading roles and not to forget, an international accolade for Hamlet; our chocolate-boy has become one of the most wanted actors in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Alizeh rose to stardom with her supporting role in Superstar. With her doll-like eyes, striking features, and promising acting skills; the starlet has proved that she is a force to be reckoned with.
United, Alizeh and Ahad have worked to give us the most adorable on-screen romance of Saad and Dua. Watching them together, you just wish their dreamy scenes would never end! Definitely, a couple we want to see more and more of.
We asked Alizeh regarding her experience working with Ahad in the drama. Here’s what she had to say:
“I am glad people liked our pair. Ahad and I have worked hard to make it possible. I would say I have been blessed to work with good co-actors in Ehd-e- Wafa.”
Osman Khalid Butt and Zara Noor Abbas
When we first heard the news of OKB and Zara Noor Abbas being paired together, we wondered if they would be convincing enough as a match on-screen.
But boy, they both surprised us!
Both artists have proved to be powerhouse performers and their duo has turned out to be a treat for fans in Ehd-e-Wafa!
Bringing different energies to the drama as Rani and Shahzain, this goofball of a couple is making us laugh throughout and we are eagerly waiting for their relationship to take a strong turn in the drama! We bet people will ship their union for a long, long time.
Mawra Hocane and Adeel Husain
This is one Pakistani celebrity couple we never thought will have an oomph factor on screen. With Mawra and her firecracker persona and Adeel with his serious, pensive personality; the two seemed poles apart!
While the Hocane haseena has bagged some major hits over time, the Maat-e-Jaan actor was missing from T.V for 5 years!
But by teaming up for Daasi, both the stars have brewed up a fiery, intense romance saga for the audience to enjoy. Their crackling togetherness as the ‘pathaka’ Sunehri and the hot-blooded Aahil has made them a striking couple, one who we want to next see sizzle on the silver screen!
Earlier in an interview with Spotlight, Mawra highlighted that she chose Daasi just to work with Adeel!
“One of the reasons for doing Daasi was getting a chance to work with Adeel Husain. I couldn’t have left a project with him!”
Iqra Aziz and Imran Ashraf
It will be a crime to miss out Iqra and Imran from the list of the most unconventional couples that took us by storm this year!
No one had thought of the two together until we saw them in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi. With their unusual love story, Imran and Iqra have won our hearts as Bhola and Noori respectively.
Their chemistry was endearing throughout, with various scenes so challenging that they gave us goosebumps!
“Iqra is an amazing actress and my role was extremely challenging. But we both were loyal to our characters. Characters are justified when we perform our roles to our best, and try to perform our 100 percent. Iqra was already performing her 100 percent and I was trying to give my best. Consequently, our on-screen chemistry was evident in the drama. The credit goes to the writer for writing the characters so beautifully and the director for shooting the drama magnificently.
We all learn from our co-stars and hence, I learned a lot from her as well while working together. “
Naimal Khawar and Usman Mukhtar
The title of the most hit, hottest and happening ‘jodi’ of the year should go to Naimal and Usman. Who knew their characters of Izza and Altamash would drive social media crazy. So much so, when Naimal tied the knot to Hamza Ali Abbasi, there was an outpour of Usman Mukhtar memes as the heartbroken lover all over the web.
This was one coupling we were surprised to see boasting such electrifying chemistry. With Naimal relatively new and Usman’s experience in movies, theatre, and cinematography; this was one unlikely duo to take the internet by storm.
But both created a massive brouhaha in their debut drama ‘Anaa’. Too bad, Naimal has bid farewell to act and we will never see them uniting on-screen again!
Talking about working with Naimal, here’s what Usman had to say:
“Naimal and I have been good friends and we have been like that since before Anaa. In fact, she forced me and convinced me to do Anaa because at that time I was confused, and she just knew it.
On the screen, we were paired together but there was never a possibility of me getting married to her. We were more like siblings and I was very happy that she got married to Hamza Ali Abbasi.”
Sanam Baloch and Ali Rehman Khan
Thinking why this duo is mentioned in the list?
Well true, their on-screen union was a fiasco in Khaas due to Amaar’s toxic mentality. But we can’t deny that both celebrities had a promising equation, given that Sanam and Ali are fantastic performers.
They equally worked together to portray a dysfunctional couple, so much so, the audience wanted Saba to be forever liberated from Ammar’s foul and nasty company.
However, next time, we wish to see Sanam and Ali bonding in a romantic setting on-screen. We bet, they will make even more waves as love-birds in reel life!
