Ehd-e-Wafa is not just a continuation of the Sunehrey Din and Alpha Bravo Charlie saga but also takes the audience back into the days of classic Television.
When the drama was enjoyed by the whole family; when scenes became memorable the moment they were aired; when scripts revolved around characters instead of actors playing themselves.
So far, it has done well due to its many positives, and that’s why we decided to highlight the best scenes of the play. We hope the scenes we select are similar to the ones you like, otherwise, you can mention your favorite ones in the comments below. Happy viewing!
When ‘Special S Gang’ (SSG) Gets Caught
The drama begins with a classic entry sequence for all four characters – Shah Zain (Osman Khalid Butt), Shariq (Wahaj Ali), Shehryar (Ahmed Ali Akbar) and Saad (Ahad Raza Mir). Warden Firdous (Sajeeruddin Khalifa) of the hostel who is fond of incorrect English pronunciation and illogical Urdu references, then delivers a three-minute lecture that not just makes the audience laugh but introduces the SSG Gang. It set the bar high for the drama with this Usual Suspects kind of beginning and since then, it has moved upwards.
When Rani’s Confidence Backfires
Rani (Zara Noor Abbas) makes her entry in the first episode as a student who likes to enjoy life, even during examinations. When she gets caught red-handed for cheating, the dialogue that takes place between the head invigilator and herself was priceless.
Here she tries to show the head invigilator that she has insulted her, rather than accept her mistake and move on. What happens next ends with a super line Ab zindagi rahi to supply main mulaqat hogi!
When Two Friends Breakup Due To Caste Difference
Shehryar (Ahmed Ali Akbar) and Shah Zain (Osman Khalid Butt) meet for the first time after they were expelled from the college; when they return from a failed meeting with Saad (Ahad Raza Mir), Shehryar’s father (Anjum Habibi) sends him home for some errand and begs Shah Zain to leave his son alone, in his son’s absence.
The manner in which he requested his son’s friend showed his concern for his son; Shah Zain’s reaction on the way back was excellent and so was Shehryar’s who returns to find his buddy gone. One glance at his father and he understood everything; the mood is made gloomier by Ali Zafar’s sad track in the background.
When Father-Son Have A Moment
Saad (Ahad Raza Mir) decides to follow his father’s footsteps and join the Pakistan Military Academy. Although his mother (Vaneeza Ahmad) hugs him and wishes him well, his father (Faraz Inam) leaves after shaking his hand. However, he does return to hug his son and wish him all the best before he begins his journey as a soldier.
Ahad, Vaneeza, and Faraz gave the perfect expressions required from them, with Vaneeza’s touchy-feely kind of mother matching the ice-cold handshake of Faraz, before he embraced his son warmly and broke all ice around them.
When Gulzar Gets Warned
When Gulzar (Adnan Samad Khan) fails his Saluting Test for the second time, his commanding officer asks him the reason and why is he not giving his best. What happens next is a discussion that will change your mind about Pakistan Army and how things work in the institution.
Both the actors do an excellent job in making the audience realize that the ‘Army Needs You’ and the sooner you realize that, the better. The scene also takes the audience back in the Sunehrey Din and Alpha Bravo Charlie days that promoted the true face of the Armed Forces and made us all proud.
When Saad Calls Dua
Saad (Ahad Raza Mir) fell in love with Dua (Alizeh Shah) before the play started; when the two restart their relationship after a hiccup, they become good friends. But there is a problem – he is a cadet at PMA and she is a medical student residing in a hostel.
When they call each other, they talk as if they are not talking to the loved one but a respected one i.e. a parent or an elderly relative, resulting in a hilarious conversation. Dua’s friends don’t suspect a thing but the person at the counter of the PCO is suspiciously looking at Saad, making him nervous. It is only after he ends the call that he realizes that there was more than meets the eye, or ear in this case.
A Slap For A Slap
Two slaps changed the mood of the drama – one delivered by Shariq (Wahaj Ali) and the other that he took a few minutes later. He first slapped a corrupt government officer for tampering with the post-mortem report of a youngster killed by a local goon; the second one was delivered after he accused his own sister of siding with the corrupt official he had slapped earlier.
In the first scene, Wahaj Ali gave the best performance of the serial by delivering a real slap on the other person’s face; his angry young man persona took a hit when his onscreen sister Naeema Butt slapped him for being rude to her. She became a social media sensation after the scene, so natural was her performance.
All three actors in the second slap including these two and veteran actress Naghma gave a flawless performance and captivated the audience’s attention.
When Rani Calls Shah Zain
Now that Shah Zain (Osman Khalid Butt) and Rani (Zara Noor Abbas) are about to be engaged, she calls him up while he is on a fishing trip. The phone conversation that takes place between the two of them is both cute and hilarious at the same time.
Mustafa Afridi’s lines and Saife Hasan’s direction make it easily the best romantic scene of the serial. Zara Noor Abbas’s fiery self and Osman Khalid Butt’s reserved personality click beautifully on the screen and it shows. Like all their scenes together, this one makes you want to fall in love in real.
