Actresses and their glitzy, glamorous careers are often unpredictable!
Often, starlets sky-rocket to stardom and create thunder on screen, only to disappear on their own accord.
Sometimes scandals plague their career and compel them to take a diversion from the entertainment cosmos. Or the desire to start a family in private prompts them to retire. Other times, it’s a dent in their career graph that leads them to be ousted from the limelight.
Over the years, many of our much-loved thespians bid farewell to show business to pursue a quiet life or had moved on to other interests.
However, it is always a thrill to see them resurface, making headlines and returning to greatness after a hiatus. Last year, we saw former supermodel Vaneeza Ahmed make a splashing comeback in Ehd e Wafa as Ahad Raza Mir’s mother. And so did Sanam Jung in Mein Na Janoo, after she turned off the spotlight to raise her daughter, Alaya.
There are so many more of Pakistan’s A-list female performers that are missing-in-action and we want to witness them all over again on our screens. Fans would love to watch them re-emerge and shine with more power, killing it like they used to do in the old days.
Below is the list of our favorite famous faces that we dearly miss and are rooting for their comeback, sooner or later. These faded stars will forever live in our hearts and will always be remembered for their glorious work in entertainment.
Zeba Bakhtiar
There can be no one in the entertainment industry like Pakistan’s golden girl, the beautiful and the fierce Zeba Bakhtiar. She is amongst the most loved of all legends due to her ethereal beauty, intellect, memorable performances, and gifted personality.
After her stunning television debut in ‘Anarkali’, there was only rise and rise for Zeba, paving her way to become the first Pakistani actress to play the lead role in a Bollywood movie ‘Henna’. She effortlessly became the showbiz sweetheart and owned the 90’s cinema scene by delivering local silver screen hits like Sargam, Muqadma, Chief Sahab, Qaid and many more.
Even though we seldom see her on-screen, her superstardom remains unchanged. We last witnessed her in Bin Roye in 2015 and seems like the time has come for Zeba to mesmerize again, reminding us of her unmatched grace and extraordinary acting prowess.
Humaima Malick
Out an out a firecracker, our industry needs more of this svelte, savage starlet called Humaima Mailk.
A look at her career trajectory exhibits how scrupulously she selects her project. Seems like for her less is more, focusing on quality rather than quantity.
It has almost been nine years since we saw her in any television project. She last played the role of Asghari in Hum TV’s Akbari Asghari and then ventured into movies with Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol. Later, she created a splash with her Bollywood debut across Emraan Hashmi in Raja Natwarlal. While it did not mint massive moolah at the box-office, it nevertheless affirmed her as a force to be reckoned with.
Returning to the local cinema, Humaima starred in Dekh Magar Pyaar Se in 2015, and two years later in Arth across Shaan.
However, her biggest project on silver screen till date remains the un-released ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’. While Pakistan awaits the big-budgeted game-changer of a project with bated breath, it will indeed mark the comeback of the dimpled diva. She has transformed herself for Daroo Naatni, gained pounds and polished her Punjabi. We bet this will be her ultimate performance of a lifetime.
While The Legend of Maula Jatt is finally hitting the screens this year, Malick is ready to be back in the spotlight. Maybe on the small screen too, it’s about time.
Ayesha Khan
JEENA. Where have you beeeeeeeen? We miss you!
We were heartbroken when two years ago, Ayesha Khan announced that she will be bidding adieu to acting after her marriage to Major Uqbah Malik.
Since then, Khan has turned off the limelight for herself, keeping her life away from the public eye. But it is to be noted that Ayesha had been ruling the entertainment world since 2003. It was only natural that fans miss her, craving for her once-in-a-while Instagram updates and being over the moon when she gave birth to a daughter last year.
While it was not her drama debut, but it was PTV’s Mehndi in 2003that made her a household name, skyrocketing her to mega-stardom. From there forth, began her jaunty journey of an illustrious career spanning over 15 years. She was every director’s favorite face and you will find her in at least one drama on every popular channel.
There is a little chance we will ever see her return, given that she is now enjoying a private life with her better-half and bundle of joy. Here’s to wishing that she blesses our screen again- maybe once her daughter grows up and a worthwhile role appeals to her.
Naimal Khawar Khan
With just two years in entertainment and two projects (one drama and a movie), Naimal Khawar Khan has floored entire Pakistan with her blazing beauty, intellect, and thespian charisma!
So much so, she topped the list of most Googled Pakistani personalities of 2019. Maybe it is her sheer magnificence that captivates people or the fact that she aced her debut character as Fizza in Anaa that has amplified her fanbase. Nevertheless, Mrs. Hamza Abbasi has her followers hooked with her every social media update.
Much to our dismay, Naimal has no plans to pursue acting and announced last year before her marriage that she is leaving entertainment to focus on her art. While we wish her all the luck in her future endeavors, we deep down want the haseena to return to our screens yet again.
Khan has a special spark, boasts immense potential and with an acting prowess destined for great things, it is only likely that we want her to make a dashing comeback!
Aiman Khan
She might have taken a temporary leave from the world of acting but Aiman Khan conversely remains in the glare of publicity due to her various social engagements.
Much-recently, she became the next star after Mahira Khan to hit five million followers on Instagram- a feat proving her massive fandom continues to grow despite her break from showbiz. Now focusing on her home, marital life and adorable baby girl ‘Amal’, Khan is enjoying life as it comes but keeps her devotees updated with her daily happenings.
It is laudable that the young star achieved so much in a mere six years of her work in entertainment. And yet, at the prime of her career she chose to settle down and take a breather. We last saw her in Baandi across Muneeb Butt and Yasir Hussain, making her bag nominations for her role as the valiant Meeru.
There is so much more that Aiman can achieve if she returns to acting. And if she ever does, there are untested avatars that await her and even silver screen glory fated for her. We definitely could use more of this charming, eclectic star.
