Steely determination, strong confidence, and eyes on the prize, that’s what we realized about Nabeel Zuberi while he got chatty with us for a heart-to-heart.
Starting small with Yaqeen Ka Safar and growing big with Suno Chanda, Nabeel’s repertoire of work on television might be minimal for now. But he is not new to the glitz, glamor, and pomp of showtown.
In 2013, the rising hero kick-started his modeling career and since then he is racing away to achieve top-heights! He shifted gears and made his silver screen debut with Anjum Shahzad’s film Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay in 2016.
But it was Suno Chanda that made him grab the limelight and made everybody drool over the new wonder star! Sherry was not only the perfect charmer of a cousin in the Ramadan drama, but he also was a dreamboat on screen. And it was not a surprise when he made it to the nominations of Best Emerging Talent at the Lux Style Awards 2019 for his role in Suno Chanda.
This year, we witnessed him again as Razi in Hum TV’s Dil Ruba, yet again a drama with a strong cast and a powerful storyline.
Like his real self, he is sweet as the down-to-earth Razi. Our hero in the drama loves his brother to death, stands up for his mother, and is loyal to the core. However, we also saw an abusive streak in him as things took an ugly turn in his married life.
You can surely get a whiff of potential star-power from Nabeel’s work! The actor has a long way to go and he knows it while looking forward to the starry journey.
It was refreshing to interact with him for he appeared a celebrity so unassuming and polite while answering our every question!
From Suno Chanda to Dil Ruba and everything in between, how has the journey been so far for you?
After Suno Chanda Season 1’s success, we were so honored and extremely excited about season 2. After season 2, I started working on Dil Ruba. I was given a very different character compared to dramas I have done and was super excited to be on-board with it.
The drama has so many male celebrities in the plot. How did you end up with the role of Razi?
When I received the script, there wasn’t any other male actor finalized for Dil Ruba. I was offered Razi’s character which, from my perspective, was a very happy and fun-loving guy, who’s very close to his family and his life takes a rapid turn. The pace in Razi’s character was very fast and challenging.
How different is Nabeel from Razi in real life?
Razi’s character is not much different from me but he is a bit more of an extrovert. Nabeel won’t be abusive like Razi when it comes to his life partner, won’t fall for someone this easily, and knows how to handle situations. Also, Nabeel won’t talk on the phone while driving (Laughs).
Razi is now dead in the story and will be extremely missed. Did you expect such love and great feedback?
Thank you to our amazing audience for loving Razi this much. I’m humbled. I gave my 100% to this character. I hope people will remember him and his energy throughout the drama.
Do you think stories like Dil Ruba exist in reality? Are such things becoming common in our society today? How do you think this drama can help curb the issue?
Stories like Dil Ruba surely do exist in real life. I don’t think such an important topic has been shown in any recent TV drama in Pakistan. The story was also one of the main reasons I did this serial because when there’s something to learn from a show, it’s always my priority. Same goes with my character I did in Yaqeen Ka Safar – something to learn from!
If Sanam and Sabih were real-life characters, what would you advise them?
For a character like Sanam, being in love is not a crime. But I would advise her to stick to one person, be loyal, and plan her life accordingly.
For a person like Sabih, I would advise him to confess his love to others before it’s too late and things get complicated.
You and Hania looked great on-screen. How the starlet is as a co-star and what was is that one thing you love about her?
Pairing up with Hania was amazing as she’s a great person to work with. I loved our on-screen chemistry and her positivity.
You have worked with Iqra Aziz as well. How has she been as a co-star?
She is a good friend and very professional when it comes to working.
Fans never want Suno Chanda to end. Do you think there will ever be a season 3 of the show?
We aren’t sure yet about season 3, but if it happens we won’t get to see it before Ramadan 2022.
What is coming up next for you?
Currently, I’m working on a project with ARY which will on the air in 2 months. Other than that, there’s a serial lined up for Hum TV which might be on air by the end of 2020.
