Hum TV is on a spree of rolling out a new batch of stories for the audience during the pandemic.
The upcoming drama ‘Dil Tanha Tanha’ is one of the projects that has been lined up to be released soon on our screens. Written by Misbah Ali Syed and directed by Ali Masood, the drama is all set to mark the comeback of Mohsin Abbas Haider on screens with the leading lady, Nazish Jahangir, and the budding talent, Arez Ahmed.
Spotlight sat down with the cast of Dil Tanha Tanha for chit chat, probing them about the plot and characters in the drama.

A budding star, Nazish kick-started her acting journey by bagging a role in Anwar Maqsood’s theatre play and is currently playing the role of Sonya Hussayn’s sister in Hum TV’s latest project ‘Saraab’. While she has seen a rocky beginning in the industry, the actress is slowly making her way to big projects and Dil Tanha Tanha is her recent feat.
Without revealing too much, please tell us about the drama and your role in it?
Nazish: I am playing the role of Mirha, a strong, independent, and smart woman who exactly knows what to do with her life. She harbors a warm bond with her father as her mother has passed away. But there are always some trouble-makers in the family and she faces rifts with her ‘Phupo’ and cousins.
Despite the noise in the past, it was a bold move to work with Mohsin Abbas Haider. How is he as a co-star?
Nazish: We all know how versatile Mohsin Abbas Haider is as an actor. I learned a lot from him. Moreover, I tried to learn ‘Saaf Urdu’ from him. He ensures to correct me wherever I was wrong and found him very supportive on the set.
Why should the audience watch Dil Tanha Tanha?
Nazish: This drama has some strong messages for girls who are single parents and handle all the stuff themselves. What’s more, after Shamila’s role, people should see me as Mirha in a positive character.

We all know how the past year has fared for Mohsin Abbas Haider. However, he is returning to tinsel town and was also seen in a music video against honor killing, featuring Sonya Hussyn.
So what Dil Tanha Tanha has in store for him, we found out!
Without revealing too much, please tell us about the drama and your role in it?
Mohsin: My character in DilTanhaTanha is that of a guy who is stubborn, crusty, and egoistic. He wants to achieve everything by hook or by crook. He is not in the habit of saying ‘no’ as it breaks his ego. The spiritual side of his character is that sometimes we forcefully pray to Allah to grant us things that are not in our favor. However, we should realize that we should accept His will for He plans the best for us. There is a journey of this whole character where he grows from a tenacious to a soft person, from a selfish soul to one who seeks God.
How is Nazish as a co-star?
Mohsin: Nazish is very hardworking and supportive as a co-star. And I found her very co-operative during the scenes.
Why should the audience watch Dil Tanha Tanha?
Moshin: The drama is very relatable and my character will be very relevant to various members of the audience. They will live my journey with me and it is possible, that the perspective of being stubborn and egoistic will change for many people. We have a good cast, good story and I won’t claim that it is an entirely different plot. All the tales have been told in the universe and they are usually retold in a new manner so that a novel change can occur in the society.
Arez Ahmed as Sohail

Playing the second prominent role in the drama is the young and the rising, Arez Ahmed. Currently seen across Syed Jibran and Hiba Bukhari in Hum TV’s Tarap, Arez has taken up a much challenging role this time around in Dil Tanha Tanha.
Without revealing too much, please tell us about the drama and your role in it?
Arez: It is about a dysfunctional family and there is one voice of sanity in the household, Sohail-the character that I am playing. His little sister is his whole universe and pays for her university fee via freelancing.
You are working with Mohsin for the first time. How has the experience been so far?
Arez: Mohsin Abbas Haider is one of those actors who can surprise you. His tough performance will amaze the audience, so much so, they even surprised all the actors working with him in a scene as well.
Why should the audience watch Dil Tanha Tanha?
Arez: This drama has good actors in it, we have a tasteful ensemble cast and we are showing an independent woman in a positive light, who stands for her rights. The story also shows another female character whose progression depends on the men of her family and she strives to seek independence. It’s a story for the masses and all the cast have pitched in their best to rock their roles.
With a cast so unconventional, we are looking forward to the promos of Dil Tanha Tanha. Here is to hoping the drama stands out with its story and the audience deems it worth a watch!
