Those luscious curls, sparkly eyes, and that mega-watt smile: Hajra Yamin has it all to make one swoon.
It it is her talent and intellect that makes her all the more appealing, bold, and confident. She is indeed a true-blue performer who smartly signs her roles and projects.
We have observed that whether she locks a leading role or becomes a part of the supporting cast, Hajra has a knack for bagging substantial roles for herself. What’s more, her acting is so powerful that her characters tend to come off as real. She adds so much passion and charm in her portrayals that one can’t help but relate to them.
The starlet has been trending for most of 2020, chiefly due to her role in the blockbuster drama ‘Ehd e Wafa’ and now she is working her magic in the recently launched ‘Be Adab’ on Hum TV.

Directed by Shehzad Kashmiri, featuring Momin Saqib, Faryal Mehmood, Rehan Sheikh, and Sania Saeed in pivotal roles, Hajra seems optimistic about the success of the drama.
Raring to run and unlock more achievements, Hajra had a heart-to-heart with Spotlight about Be Adab. Enthralled to work with the veterans Rehan Sheikh and Sania Saeed, the starlet loved working with the director Shehzad Kashmiri even more.

Be Adab looks extremely intriguing. Do tell us something about the drama.
The drama is basically about what goes around comes around, in general. It’s based on family values and how damaging it can be if those values are not shared by everyone and instead negatively opposed.
What is your role in the plot?
My character is Sheena, who is a very ambitious girl, has big dreams for herself, and doesn’t want to follow in her parent’s footsteps. She has a very individual approach to life, which does not always play in your favor.

A teaser featuring you highlights a potential harassment scene between your character and another character in the drama. Please shed light on this.
I can’t reveal much about that scene honestly but we kept it as subtle as possible. It was very difficult to shoot this scene. I was about to give up on this script because of this scene because it was just so wrong that why would anybody do this. But I spoke to the director about it and he was equally concerned and wanted to execute it very subtly. That’s when I agreed.
Is there a social message in Be Adab?
Be Adab doesn’t give a social message but it is more about life in a full circle more about how Karma does its work. Some values help us balance our lives and show us how important it is to be good human beings.
Tell us about the veteran cast. How was the experience working with Sania Saeed and Rehan Sheikh?
Honestly, when I was told that Sania Saeed and Rehan Sheikh are a part of Be Adab’s cast, I instantly agreed. I have worked with Rehan Sheikh before as well but every time I do I learn so much and the experience is memorable!
And what do I say about Sania Saeed, I was star-struck! I could not even perform the first 10 minutes because I kept forgetting my lines.

Who did you enjoying working with the most in the drama?
I enjoyed working with everyone be it the cast or the crew everybody it was a great experience. I loved being directed by Shahzad Bhai. I think he is sort of a director that every actor should work with. He truly is a storyteller.
He has a character ark for every actor, be it big or small. He is just so intelligent that way so ambitious and passionate about his work that every character is important to him. Be it Faryal, Momin Saqib, Rehan Sheikh, or Sania Saeed, the entire cast was amazing to work with.
Is Shehzad Kashmiri a challenging director? What has the takeaways while working with him?
Shehzad Kashmiri is not challenging at all. There is something about him that he puts you out of your comfort zone and he makes you do something which you have not before as an actor.
My character is a negative one so when I met him I told him I don’t like the way negative characters are portrayed in most of our stories, his reply was, “Hajra we just want you to act human and that was it for me”.

You can be seen in a variety of dramas on various channels currently. What are your criteria for selecting a script?
We don’t have a variety of stories so there are two things that I look at.
1. Script, how different is the story being told
2) director: As an actor, I like to completely depend on my director and it’s the director who’s telling the story.
So when I got to know Shehzad Kashmiri is on board that’s what compelled me to this project.
