Saraab is a very important project for me: Nazish Jehangir

Like a hard-worker and a true winner, she kept her eyes on the prize. And gradually, her fine performances showed everybody that she is one talented artist that will make it big in the entertainment world. Her rise has been slow but steady, smart, and smooth. One worthy project after the other, Nazish has proved that she is a force to be reckoned with.

Currently, she is grabbing all the eyeballs as Mirha in Dil Tanha Tanha and Namal in Saraab. Both her avatars are poles apart from each other and Nazish is equally doing justice to both her characters.

Spotlight sat down with Nazish to enjoy a tete-a-tete over her projects and what’s coming up next! Looks like silver screen glory next awaits our young starlet. Extracts from the interview are as follows.

Tell us about Dil Tanha Tanha. What made you sign the script?

It was a brilliant script. My role was an out and out positive one. It’s a perfection of how today’s girls are strong and confident. So I said yes immediately.

Saraab on the other hand discusses a greater issue of mental health. How does it feel to be part of the project?

Saraab is a very important project for me. I have been a mental health awareness advocate for a decade and I continue to be one. It feels great to be a part of something so important.

Was it a challenge playing the vile sister Namal in Saraab?

It isn’t completely a negative character. It has its shades. I enjoy playing with such characters. They give you a lot of performance margin.

What should be your advice to Namal for dealing with her schizophrenic sister?

Show some empathy.

In Dil Tanha Tanha, Mirha is a working woman. How do you think girls in real life can have a work-life balance and convince their families to pursue their careers?

It’s a girl’s right to pursue her career. No girl should compromise on that. If people in your surroundings are supportive, it gets easier, but I think every girl out there should learn how to fight for her rights.

How has the experience been working with Ali Ansari, Sami Khan, and Mohsin Abbas Haider?

All are amazing actors, to begin with. I am happy to be given the chance to work with such amazing co-stars so early in my career.

Did you feel overshadowed while working with Sonya Hussayn in Saraab?

Not at all. Every character in Saraab is equally important and gets enough screen time to prove their mettle. It was a pleasure to work with Sonya and she is a very dear friend now.

Controversies have chased you for a long time but you have always remained strong. How do you deal with cyber-bullies amidst all the chaos?

Truth always comes out at the end of the day, so I don’t worry about it at all. There is no power bigger than Allah SWT. As long as He is there for me, I’ve got nothing to worry about.

What’s next for Nazish?

There is a film and I am waiting patiently for its release. I have also started shooting for a new drama serial.
