With Mohabbatein Chahatein replacing the recently concluded Saraab on Thursdays, HUM TV has a new drama to entertain its audience on the vacant Tuesdays. Shehrazade Sheikh’s Safar Tamam Howa will screen its first episode on 16th March 2021 and is likely to grab the audience’s attention in its initial weeks. Why? Because not only does it have an ensemble cast, it will also be bringing back some ‘missing’ faces, and reuniting old acquaintances to the screen after 7 years!
The Return of Madiha Imam on HUM TV
For 7 years, the HUM TV audience waited for Madiha Imam’s return to the network, and their prayers would be answered with Safar Tamam Hua. The versatile actress has been busy on other channels since last appearing on HUM TV as Laiba in Ishq Mein Teray alongside Mehwish Hayat, Azfar Rehman and Shahzad Nawaz in 2014. Exactly seven years later, she will be returning to HUM TV, and this time her co-stars would be Ali Rehman Khan and Syed Jibran. In between, she had worked in a Bollywood film Dear Maya (2017), is about to make her Pakistani film debut with Neelofer, and has delivered hits after hits with her last one with Shehrazade Sheikh on another channel, also the director of Safar Tamam Howa.
Talking to Spotlight about the drama, Madiha Imam had a lot to say about Safar Tamam Howa.
‘My character in the play is that of a regular girl who deals with situations that are thrown at her; however what makes her different is the baggage she carries, the way she has been brought up, and from where she belongs. You will get the idea once the play begins and although it looks like a normal character to perform, the biggest challenge for me was to bring a certain kind of ‘bachpan’ (immaturity) to the character, which adds to how she reacts to things.’
As for working with Syed Jibran and Ali Rehman, she pays glowing tributes to both the actors.
‘The way (Syed) Jibran conducts himself is incredible and I had a great time working with him. He belongs to the generation of actors that preceded me and Ali Rehman, and like his peers, his work ethic is quite sorted which is very refreshing for someone like me. As for Ali Rehman, well he is pretty much like me. He and I are from the same lot and it was nice to work with someone who has made a name for himself in films. We worked together for the first time but since the director was happy with our chemistry, I am happy. I am really looking forward to seeing how it looks on screen and so should you.’
Ali Rehman Khan to make it Khaas again!

Ali Rehman Khan began his career with HUM TV, peaked on HUM TV, and returns to HUM TV after two years. His last drama Khaas featured him in the role of an abusive husband who is jealous of his wife, her concerned friend, and also cheats on her. In Safar Tamam Howa, he gets to play the good guy, who falls in love with a beautiful girl, gets to deliver some of the romantic lines and has done a marvelous job as a caring person. Stay tuned to the drama to watch the good side of Ali Rehman Khan, who might get his heart broken, for a change!
Syed Jibran reunites with ‘brother’ after 7 years!
With Syed Jibran, you don’t know whether he would be the good guy or the bad one; in Tarap last year he played a strict brother to two sisters whereas in Dil Ruba he was a playboy who exploited his rich father until he found a girl for him. Here, he will be playing a character who might have shades of grey but that’s because of his family’s fault, not his. However, the fun fact here is that he would be playing brother to Ali Rehman Khan after 7 years; in 2014, they played siblings in Mohabbat Ab Nahi Hogi and in 2021, it’s in Safar Tamam Howa, both on HUM TV.
This is what Syed Jibran had to say to Spotlight when asked about his experience of working in Safar Tamam Howa:
‘My role is of a guy who suffers from the complex of being neglected right from his childhood but that has more to do with his family and the circumstances than anything else. That in return makes a huge impact on his personality and his insecurities which result in a lot of chaos.’
He went onto add that working with Ali (Rehman) and Madiha (Imam) was a fantastic experience. ‘It was a great experience to share the screen with such brilliant actors who were always eager to learn more. With Ali, it was like déjà vu but he and Madiha actually helped me a lot in bringing out the life of my character on the screen.’
HUM TV Adaptations Are Usually The Best!
HUM TV started the trend of dramatizing novels into serials and they have done a terrific job with Dastaan, Humsafar, Shehre Zaat, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Kankar, Dayar e Dil, Woh Yaqeen Ka Naya Safar (Yaqeen Ka Safar) and Aangan to name a few. Rahat Jabeen’s Safar Tamam Howa is geared up to join the esteemed dramas because it has all the right ingredients. Syed Jibran believes that this drama would entertain the audience the way they deserve to be, for it has a good story, has been craftily directed by Shehrazade Sheikh , and features excellent performances from all actors. Happy viewing!
