4 reasons that make Ehd-e-Wafa grand finale a must watch!

Move aside Pakistan Super League, hide all international releases, the next big thing is here and it’s called Ehd-e-Wafa Grand Finale.

Not even the producers behind the drama – ISPR and MD Productions – would have imagined that the grand finale would become so huge that it will have to head to cinemas before TV.

The last two episodes of the play will be screened at a cinema near you on 14th March 2020. Before that, you have to quench your thirst with a grand finale trailer that will surely take your breath away. Why? We have our reasons!

Megastar Humayun Saeed is in it!

Did you expect Humayun Saeed to be a part of the Ehd-e-Wafa team? No one did and the producers must be credited for keeping it a secret. The Mere Paas Tum Ho actor who is riding high on the success of his play begins the trailer with his presence and for one moment the audience is left wondering whether they have clicked on the wrong link, or switched to a different channel.

But hey, Major Humayun is here and he means business. How so? Check the teaser and his interaction with Wing Commander Abhinandan (yes, the fantastic tea one) and celebrate the first anniversary of the downing of the Indian jet.

The story moves towards a conclusion

The story of four friends that began at the Lawrence College ends at the same place, as can be seen in the grand finale trailer. How the writer and director manage to bring all four to their alma mater is a mystery that will be revealed in a couple of weeks. Then there are the scenes where Saad (Ahad Raza Mir) is seen leading his battalion into the battleground, and with the dialogues in the background suggesting that he might or might not make it back alive.

Sheheryar (Ahmed Ali Akbar) is also seen meeting Masooma, his cousin whom he didn’t treat well when she was staying with his family. The chemistry between Zara Noor Abbas and Osman Khalid Butt’s Rani and Shahzain also adds value to the trailer, while you can see how happy Wahaj Ali and Hajra Yamin’s Shariq and Ramsha are when they are together, even at the Line of Control.

Except for Saad’s possible end, everything seems to be going right for the drama and the audience wants to know whether he gets to meet Saad Jr. or are we in for an end that reminds us of Alpha Bravo Charlie.

The dialogues are nothing less than that of a feature film!

If the dialogues in the grand finale trailer don’t remind you of classic War dramas from the 1980s or Bilal Lashari’s Waar, then I don’t know what will. Ahad Raza Mir plays the army officer to excellence, something his father Asif Raza Mir also did but as an Indian Soldier in the Nishan-e-Haider series where he fought against Zil-e-Subhan’s Major Tufail Shaheed.

Ahad’s expressions while he is holding the locket, firing the gun or leading his men are too difficult to resist and some of us have even started praying for his well-being, and long life. The visual effects, the battle sound and above all, the action choreography is done so well that you will forget that you are watching a TV drama. Just imagine the impact of every bullet fired in surround sound and you will decide to go and watch the finale in cinema, before everyone else.

And then there were the locations

Did you catch a glimpse of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur during the trailer because if you didn’t, watch it again! How it will be tied to the story and what character Humayun Saeed’s Major plays in the finale is what the audience is excited about. Kudos to cinematographers Azhar Ali and Shahzad Kashmiri for capturing Pakistan’s beauty that is not shown usually in our dramas.

Add to that the wonderful background score by Mohsin Allah Ditta and the two OSTs – one led by Ali Zafar, the other by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan – and you get one of the best drama trailers in recent years. Will it surprise us or shock us, we will find out on March 14, 2020. Head to your nearest cinema and book your ticket before it’s too late!

Give us your feedback on the trailer!

Actresses that need to make a comeback in entertainment!

Actresses and their glitzy, glamorous careers are often unpredictable!

Often, starlets sky-rocket to stardom and create thunder on screen, only to disappear on their own accord.

Sometimes scandals plague their career and compel them to take a diversion from the entertainment cosmos. Or the desire to start a family in private prompts them to retire. Other times, it’s a dent in their career graph that leads them to be ousted from the limelight.

Over the years, many of our much-loved thespians bid farewell to show business to pursue a quiet life or had moved on to other interests.

However, it is always a thrill to see them resurface, making headlines and returning to greatness after a hiatus. Last year, we saw former supermodel Vaneeza Ahmed make a splashing comeback in Ehd e Wafa as Ahad Raza Mir’s mother. And so did Sanam Jung in Mein Na Janoo, after she turned off the spotlight to raise her daughter, Alaya.

There are so many more of Pakistan’s A-list female performers that are missing-in-action and we want to witness them all over again on our screens. Fans would love to watch them re-emerge and shine with more power, killing it like they used to do in the old days.

Below is the list of our favorite famous faces that we dearly miss and are rooting for their comeback, sooner or later. These faded stars will forever live in our hearts and will always be remembered for their glorious work in entertainment.

Zeba Bakhtiar

There can be no one in the entertainment industry like Pakistan’s golden girl, the beautiful and the fierce Zeba Bakhtiar. She is amongst the most loved of all legends due to her ethereal beauty, intellect, memorable performances, and gifted personality.

After her stunning television debut in ‘Anarkali’, there was only rise and rise for Zeba, paving her way to become the first Pakistani actress to play the lead role in a Bollywood movie ‘Henna’. She effortlessly became the showbiz sweetheart and owned the 90’s cinema scene by delivering local silver screen hits like Sargam, Muqadma, Chief Sahab, Qaid and many more.

Even though we seldom see her on-screen, her superstardom remains unchanged. We last witnessed her in Bin Roye in 2015 and seems like the time has come for Zeba to mesmerize again, reminding us of her unmatched grace and extraordinary acting prowess.

Humaima Malick

Out an out a firecracker, our industry needs more of this svelte, savage starlet called Humaima Mailk.

A look at her career trajectory exhibits how scrupulously she selects her project. Seems like for her less is more, focusing on quality rather than quantity.

یہ لال عشق۔ یہ ملال عشق۔

A post shared by HUMAIMA MALICK (@humaimamalick) on

It has almost been nine years since we saw her in any television project. She last played the role of Asghari in Hum TV’s Akbari Asghari and then ventured into movies with Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol.  Later, she created a splash with her Bollywood debut across Emraan Hashmi in Raja Natwarlal. While it did not mint massive moolah at the box-office, it nevertheless affirmed her as a force to be reckoned with.

Returning to the local cinema, Humaima starred in Dekh Magar Pyaar Se in 2015, and two years later in Arth across Shaan.

However, her biggest project on silver screen till date remains the un-released ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’. While Pakistan awaits the big-budgeted game-changer of a project with bated breath, it will indeed mark the comeback of the dimpled diva. She has transformed herself for Daroo Naatni, gained pounds and polished her Punjabi. We bet this will be her ultimate performance of a lifetime.

While The Legend of Maula Jatt is finally hitting the screens this year, Malick is ready to be back in the spotlight. Maybe on the small screen too, it’s about time.

Ayesha Khan

JEENA. Where have you beeeeeeeen? We miss you!

We were heartbroken when two years ago, Ayesha Khan announced that she will be bidding adieu to acting after her marriage to Major Uqbah Malik.

Since then, Khan has turned off the limelight for herself, keeping her life away from the public eye. But it is to be noted that Ayesha had been ruling the entertainment world since 2003. It was only natural that fans miss her, craving for her once-in-a-while Instagram updates and being over the moon when she gave birth to a daughter last year.

While it was not her drama debut, but it was PTV’s Mehndi in 2003that made her a household name, skyrocketing her to mega-stardom. From there forth, began her jaunty journey of an illustrious career spanning over 15 years. She was every director’s favorite face and you will find her in at least one drama on every popular channel.

There is a little chance we will ever see her return, given that she is now enjoying a private life with her better-half and bundle of joy. Here’s to wishing that she blesses our screen again- maybe once her daughter grows up and a worthwhile role appeals to her.

Naimal Khawar Khan

With just two years in entertainment and two projects (one drama and a movie), Naimal Khawar Khan has floored entire Pakistan with her blazing beauty, intellect, and thespian charisma!

So much so, she topped the list of most Googled Pakistani personalities of 2019. Maybe it is her sheer magnificence that captivates people or the fact that she aced her debut character as Fizza in Anaa that has amplified her fanbase. Nevertheless, Mrs. Hamza Abbasi has her followers hooked with her every social media update.

Much to our dismay, Naimal has no plans to pursue acting and announced last year before her marriage that she is leaving entertainment to focus on her art. While we wish her all the luck in her future endeavors, we deep down want the haseena to return to our screens yet again.

Khan has a special spark, boasts immense potential and with an acting prowess destined for great things, it is only likely that we want her to make a dashing comeback!

Aiman Khan

She might have taken a temporary leave from the world of acting but Aiman Khan conversely remains in the glare of publicity due to her various social engagements.

Much-recently, she became the next star after Mahira Khan to hit five million followers on Instagram- a feat proving her massive fandom continues to grow despite her break from showbiz. Now focusing on her home, marital life and adorable baby girl ‘Amal’, Khan is enjoying life as it comes but keeps her devotees updated with her daily happenings.

It is laudable that the young star achieved so much in a mere six years of her work in entertainment. And yet, at the prime of her career she chose to settle down and take a breather. We last saw her in Baandi across Muneeb Butt and Yasir Hussain, making her bag nominations for her role as the valiant Meeru.

There is so much more that Aiman can achieve if she returns to acting. And if she ever does, there are untested avatars that await her and even silver screen glory fated for her. We definitely could use more of this charming, eclectic star.

Why the 1st ‘HUM Women Leaders Award’ 2020 will be known as a landmark event!

HUM Network has always been a pioneer when it comes to the entertainment industry!

They were the first ones to revert to the traditional Pakistani drama fifteen years back and also the first to host international awards abroad.

In another landmark step, the HUM Network managed to honor 11 iconic women from around the world (and a gentleman) in a ceremony that has no equal at the moment.

Held at the picturesque Governor House in Karachi, the inaugural edition of HUM Women Leaders Award 2020 was an event that would be remembered for a long time because of its grandeur, its elegance and bringing people from different fields and appreciating their contribution in their respective fields.

Mira Sethi and Sanam Saeed were the perfect choices to host the event!

When you have the President of Pakistan Arif Alvi as the Chief Guest, the US Ambassador to the country HE Paul W Jones and Governor Sindh Imran Ismail gracing the occasion, hosting the event becomes a huge responsibility.

However, popular film and TV actresses Mira Sethi and Sanam Saeed didn’t show any signs of nervousness and proved to be graceful hosts of the night. Be it Mira Sethi’s personal touches or Sanam Saeed’s elegance, they gave special attention to those who were the recipients and those who came to handover the awards.

In an event where the crème la crème of the society were present, mishaps would have been common, yet the two hosts were flawless in their time on stage.

11 iconic women, 1 feminist were honored for their contributions

When it comes to Women Empowerment in Pakistan, no TV channel can surpass HUM TV network that is headed by Sultana Siddiqui, who herself is one dynamic woman.

It is due to her leadership skills that people like Pakistan’s first female mountaineer Samina Baig, the first female attorney of Hazara community Jalila Haider, the resilient Barrister Khadija Siddiqi for her conviction despite being stabbed 23 times by a colleague, women’s rights activist Dr. Fouzia Saeed, legendary actor Bushra Ansari, Head of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre Dr. Seemin Jamali, Renowned journalist Zubeida Mustafa, Pakistan’s first female Governor of the State Bank Dr. Shamshad Akhtar and former Ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi’s contribution was recognized and honored.

Two foreigners – acclaimed Iranian film director Narges Abyar and the first woman President of Ireland Mary Robinson – were also presented awards for their contribution to the women cause and while the former was there to pick her trophy, the latter sent a recorded message to thank the organizers.

Globally recognized campaign strategist Omar Aftab was the only male to receive an award for his services to the women’s and child health sector and he dedicated it to all the women who have made a difference in their fields.

Sajjad Ali and Zaw Ali set the stage on fire with a magical performance

And then there were the performances. Veteran and diverse vocalist Sajjad Ali was there to kick off the proceedings with a magical performance with her daughter Zaw Ali. The duo sang the famous Coke Studio number Ronay Na Dia before the veteran told the audience that besides being a proud father, he was a nervous one as well, after a long time.

Posted by HUM TV on Wednesday, February 19, 2020

They set the stage on fire, a tradition Sajjad Ali carried on after her daughter went backstage to let her dad do what he has been doing for the past 4 decades. Sajjad then sang his last hit Lagaya Dil which was followed by Saahil Pe Kharay, two of his best numbers in the last decade. The audience applauded his performance wholeheartedly after being mesmerized for the entire duration of his act.

Hania Aamir managed to capture the audience’s attention with her performance

Talented actress Hania Aamir has been around for a handful of years but has made a name for herself during this short time.

Posted by HUM TV on Wednesday, February 19, 2020

The ravishing diva danced on a medley of songs and led a group of talented background dancers with her elegance and grace. Her performance not only gave the hosts a break from their duties but also treated the audience to something that they least expected, in a good way.

Hadiqa Kiani brought the proceedings to a close with a live performance

What else could have been the perfect end to a perfect night other than a live performance from the perfect female vocalist Hadiqa Kiani?

Posted by HUM TV on Wednesday, February 19, 2020

The veteran singer concluded the proceedings with her famous song Hamari Intehai Shauq Kia Hai and no other song could have been more apt than this, especially for an occasion where those who reached the sky were honored. The audience was entertained as the nightingale from the 90s was in full swing, delivering one of the best performances in recent years.

Hottest new reel-life pairs that will be rocking our screens this year

We are always thrilled when our favorite, iconic on-screen couples of the past bless our screens again in a new project.

After all, who wouldn’t want to see more of Fawad-Mahira’s romantic equation or Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali swaying us again with their romance? Such dynamic duos will never get old and will forever rule over our hearts!

However, we always crave for a fresh casting coup in a drama or a movie with a hot new lead pair, a scintillating romance, and a captivating plot. Last year, we witnessed it when Usman Mukhtar and Naimal Khawar Khan worked magic on our screens to become an evergreen ‘Jodi’. Or how can we forget Iqra Aziz and Imran Ashraf gifting us with the sweetness of Noori and Bhola.

The new entertainment season is packed with some never-seen-before celebrity pairs that are all set to make their debut and shake things up with a whirlwind of romance. By the end of the year, one of these couples will be possibly crowned as the hottest pair of 2020 that left us wanting for more.

Wondering who these names are? Let us find out!

Usman Mukhtar and Sarah Khan

With his drama debut last year with ‘Anaa’, Usman has made one thing clear to all- he is here to rock and roll on our screens for a long, long time!

He made Altamash the swoon-worthy hero of our dreams and he did it so effortlessly that fans didn’t want his character to ever bid farewell. So much so, when we found out that he has signed director Shahzad Kashmiri’s Sabaat, we couldn’t help rejoicing.

Accompanying him will be the all-time television darling, Sarah Khan. With an experience of almost eight years working in dramas, Khan boasts a deep passion for her craft and romance is her forte.

Spilling the beans about Sabaat, Usman divulged:

I am working on a TV drama Sabaat these days with the same director of Anaa and the same channel – Shehzad Kashmiri and Hum TV – and the biggest difference is that I have Sarah Khan as my romantic interest.

We bet these two will be brewing up a love story of a lifetime in Sabaat. Khan will be seen as Miraal while Usman will be essaying the role of Dr. Haris. Will he turn out to be our desi McDreamy? We certainly hope so!

Imran Ashraf and Urwa Hocane

It is not an exaggeration to claim that Imran Ashraf has become one of the most successful young actors in the entertainment industry, that too in such a short time. He has generated applause from all quarters with his performance in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi and Inkaar, proving he is one gifted actor.

This year, he is all ready to cook up a classic romance with the stunner, Urwa Hocane. Paired up together for director’s Aehsun Talish’s Mushk, the twosome will embark on an enticing tale that is all about ‘love and its fragrance’.

What has us even more elated is Urwa’s return to television after a hiatus of three years. It is to be noted that she has chosen her comeback carefully with names like Imran and Ahesun attached to the project. We guarantee that Mushk will be amongst the blockbuster dramas of the year!

Talking to Spotlight in an earlier interview, Aehsun Talish revealed:

I’m also excited to have Urwa on board and I have a lot of expectations with the character she’s playing. Mushq is a play about love, about how can anyone hide or stay away from this notion of love, its smell, and aroma.  The fragrance envelopes you eventually, and that’s what Mushq is all about.

Hania Aamir and Jibran Syed

Now, this is one odd duo that we never would have mused coming together on our screens.

Regardless, Hania and Jibran will be seen across each other in the upcoming Hum TV drama ‘Dilruba’. Not much is known about the drama and the details about the project are hush-hushed.

But we dished around a little and discovered that the drama’s cast includes ‘Ghana Ali, Marina Khan, Laila Wasti, Beenish Raja and Nabeel Zuberi’.With a cast so new, we are looking forward to a radical, contemporary tale.

Both Hania and Jibran are top-notch talents. Their partnership on screen is bound to be not-your-typical-dreamy- romance, but something much more hi-octane! Who knows these two become the next lovebirds we cannot get enough of! Seems like some major surprise is in store for us, one we are really excited for.

Mawra Hocane and Ameer Gilani

While we thought Sabaat will be all about Usman and Sarah’s love story, it seems like the bubbly beauty Mawra Hocane has a pivotal role in the drama.

After Daasi, the starlet will be next seen as ‘Aanaya’ in the upcoming project across the heartthrob of an emerging star, Ameer Gilani. Those who have watched Hum TV’s “Log Kia Kahengay” will be familiar with the new talent. He is young, full of potential and has looks that could kill.

What’s more, the hunky hero looks perfect across our sweetheart, Hocane.

If their chemistry turns out to be as scorching as it looks, then this will be one celebrity pair that is bound to turn heads this year! While this is Ameer’s second project, Mawra is an all-time sensation on screen. Will they bring out the best in each other? Let’s wait and watch!

Hajra Yamin and Wahaj Ali

If truth be told, we didn’t expect Hajra and Wahaj to create such massive thunder with their strong camaraderie in Ehd-e-Wafa! But boy, how wrong we were!

The good-looking pair has aptly stirred the much-needed warmth between Ramsha and Shariq.  With some adorable moments together, vastly different mindset yet headstrong personalities, their avatars have it all to be the most memorable characters of the year.

We would love to see them as a leading couple in yet another drama, with an intense romance and a convincing plot! Ehd e Wafa will be ending soon, but we are up for relishing in the goodness while it lasts.

Bilal Abbas Khan and Yumna Zaidi

We had eyes on this powerful pair since the moment we got to know that Yumna and Bilal are pairing up for Pyar Ke Sadqay.

Both these stars are trailblazers in their own realm. With his success in Cheekh last year, Bilal has proved his acting chops to all and Yumna is a pro at donning an avatar that comes her way.

Pyar Ke Sadqay has begun with five episodes aired so far. With their quirky avatars as the sparkling Mahjabeen and the naïve Abdullah, the comical chemistry between the duo is refreshing on our screens.

Their reel-life union has more in store for us! We wonder what fate the writer Zanjabeel Asim has penned in a twisted story like Pyar Ke Sadqay. Here’s to hoping that it’s a happy one.
